Coogee, as it stands today, was built on the lands of the Bidjigal, Gadigal and Birrabirrragal peoples of the Eora nation. These lands were stolen, and the all digital artifacts collected for this website, including the photographs and videos I took on my walk, are a result of the violent colonial project of so-called Australia.
I pay my respects to First Nations elders past and present, and to all First Nations people who have lived on these lands for centuries before white settlement, and who continue to live on them despite the devestating ongoing effects of colonisation.
Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
